The 2026 International Workers' Day (Mayday) Commemoration in Pemalang Regency Reflects a Holistic Model of Cross-Sectoral Collaboration

PEMALANG - Through an approach that combines social celebrations, social security protection, and policy dialogue, the Pemalang Regency Government is striving to create a resilient labor ecosystem.

This is an effort to strengthen the welfare of workers in Pemalang, ranging from concrete actions on the ground to strategic policies encompassing the following:

Social Reconstruction: Celebration as an Instrument of Togetherness: Mayday commemoration is no longer viewed merely as a moment for demands, but rather transformed into a space for social integration. Through various activities such as fun walks, affordable food bazaars, free health checks and blood donations, the government is striving to bridge the communication barriers between workers and the wider community.

"This activity serves as both social relaxation and a direct form of appreciation for workers' contributions to driving the local economy," said Umroni, Head of the Pemalang Regency Manpower, Industry, and Transmigration Office (DTKPT), during a talk show commemorating International Workers' Day (May Day) 2026 at the Pemalang Regency Hall on Friday (May 1, 2026).

Appreciation and Inclusion from Recognition for Corporate Compliance As a form of education for the business world, the Pemalang Regency Government presented awards to entities that demonstrated a strong commitment to regulations:

​Workers' financial security is a key pillar of regional macroeconomic stability. Based on data as of April 2026, it was recorded:

-​Claim Distribution: IDR 47.4 billion was disbursed for 6,331 claims during the first quarter of 2026.

Meanwhile, in the Absorption Strategy and Investment Climate, from a managerial perspective, the Manpower, Industry, and Transmigration Agency (Disnakertrans) acts as an intermediary between the availability of local talent and industry needs. On the other hand, the Employers' Association (APINDO) emphasized that economic stability and ease of licensing are absolute prerequisites for companies to continue providing optimal employee welfare amidst global economic fluctuations.

Pemalang Regent Anom Widiyantoro emphasized the principle of "Going Concern," or business continuity.
