Baladewa Has a Hard-Hearted Character, Easily Angry But Forgiving and Wise

Pemalang | - Some say that in the wayang character the name Baladewa is the incarnation of a dragon, while others believe him to be the incarnation of Sanghyang Basuki, the God of salvation.
Baladewa lived a very long life, after the Baratayuda war, Baladewa became a guardian and advisor to Prabu Parikesit, the king of Hastinapura after the death of Prabu Kalimataya or Prabu Puntadewa.

Baladewa received the title Resi Balarama / Begawan Curiganata. He died moksa after the extinction of the entire Wresni Dynasty.

In this case Baladewa is the figure inherent in Javanese wayang kulit art (in Javanese puppetry), Baladewa is the brother of Prabu Kresna.

Prabu Baladewa, whose name was Kakrasana when he was young, was the son of Prabu Basudewa, King of the Mandura country with his consort Dewi Mahendra or Maekah (who was born as a twin with his sister, and had another sister named Dewi Subadra or Dewi Lara Ireng), and the daughter of Prabu Basudewa with his consort Dewi Badrahini.

Baladewa also had another sibling named Arya Udawa, the son of Prabu Basudewa and Nyai Sagopi, a Swarawati from the Mandura palace.

Prabu Baladewa, whose youth had been a priest at his Argaso hermitage with the title Wasi Jaladara, married Dewi Erawati, the daughter of Prabu Salya and Dewi Setyawati or Pujawati from the Mandaraka country. From this marriage he had two sons named Wisata and Wimuka.

Baladewa had a hard-hearted character, easily angered but forgiving and wise. He was very skilled at using a mace, so that Bima and Duryodhana studied with him. Baladewa has two sacred heirlooms, namely Nangggala and Alugara, both given by Brahma.

Baladewa also has an elephant vehicle named Kyai Puspadenta. In many ways, Baladewa is the opposite of Kresna. Kresna is black while Baladewa has white skin.

Actually Baladewa sided with the Kurawa, so in the Jitapsara Book when the scenario was written by the gods about the Baratayuda War, Prabu Kresna knew that the gods planned that Baladewa would be pitted against Raden Anantareja and Baladewa would die. When he saw the note, Prabu Kresna wanted to save Prabu Baladewa and Raden Anantareja so that they would not join the war because Prabu Kresna considered the two people to have no business in the Baratayuda war. Prabu Kresna disguised himself as a beetle then flew and kicked the ink used by the gods to write, the ink spilled and covered the paper that had the writing Anantarejo then the beetle that was the incarnation of Prabu Kresna also grabbed the pen used to write and the pen fell. Finally, in the Jitapsara Book, which is the book of the Baratayuda war scenario written by the gods, there is no writing about Raden Anantareja and Prabu Baladewa.

So before the Baratayuda war, Prabu Kresna persuaded Anantareja to commit suicide by licking the soles of his own feet, finally Raden Anantareja died as a sacrifice for the Pandawa's victory.

Prabu Kresna also had a strategy to isolate Prabu Baladewa so that he would not hear and witness the Baratayuda War, namely by asking Prabu Baladewa to meditate in Grojogan Sewu (Grojogan = Waterfall, Sewu = Thousand) with the aim that if the Baratayuda war occurred, Baladewa would not be able to hear it because it was covered by the roar of the waterfall.

In addition, Kresna promised to wake him up later if Baratayuda happened, even though the next day after he meditated in Grojogan Sewu, the Baratayuda war took place.

Two powerful heirlooms of Baladewa.

-NANGGALA
Nanggala in the Javanese puppet story is a weapon belonging to Prabu Baladewa, son of Prabu Basudewa. This weapon is round, pointed on both sides, and made of wood. Nanggala is said to have extraordinary powers, such as splitting the ocean, melting mountains, and destroying the sun.

-ALUGORO

Alugoro is a mace-shaped weapon owned by Prabu Baladewa in the puppet story. Alugoro is one of the sacred heirlooms given by his teacher, Batara Brama, to Baladewa after graduating from studying.

Alugoro has a very powerful destructive power, Alugoro also has the advantage of finding the whereabouts of enemies.
